Abstract

The present study aims to characterize the process of teaching statistics and average in psychology at the University co-op program headquarters Neiva to consider relevant aspects in a didactic proposition to students. This is a study with a transversal, descriptive qualitative-quantitative methodological design; the instruments used were the survey and document review. As a result it was obtained that teachers and students agree that the teaching of statistics and the media is characterized by a master class, the student as receiver concepts, main board teaching resources, and not to use the evaluation to clear individual doubts. It is concluded that the teaching of statistics should aim to create a statistical culture since, their object of study is used by other disciplines to advance research processes and by the citizen, for the reading of meaningful information.
